Students from Cole Valley Christian High School were marching to end hunger Saturday.
The students and some members from area churches took to the sidewalks in downtown Boise.
They were marching to raise canned food and monetary donations for the Boise Rescue Mission and the City Light Home for Women and Children.

Half a million pounds of food has been distributed during the monthly mobile food pantries in Barrow County held during the past 18 months, and the success of the Barrow County Cooperative Benevolence Ministries has received recognition from the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia.
The annual Empty Bowl Luncheon, a fundraiser which also helps to raise awareness about hunger in the community, was held March 17 at The Classic Center in Athens.

No one doubts that children who come to school energized by a bowl of oatmeal are better able to learn than kids whose stomachs are growling.
Likewise, countries whose citizens are adequately fed are more likely to have the vigor to produce, innovate, make good governing choices, compete and trade than countries that are malnourished.
In short, countries not beset by starvation are better consumers of U.S. products than countries that don't have enough resources to feed everyone.

Food and Disaster Management Minister Abdur Razzaque on Sunday said godowns with a capacity to preserve 7 to 8 lakh tonnes of foodgrains will be established across the country in next 2/3 years to ensure food security.
"Already, the government has set up food godowns with 1.10 lakh tonnes of capacity," the minister said.

At least 55 children have died of malnutrition in Niger since the beginning of this year out of 45 525 cases recorded, officials said on Friday.
"There were some 45 525 cases of malnutrition, of which 55 deaths were already recorded in 2010", the ministerial council said in a statement on official media.
"With the efforts made by the state and those of development partners, it was hoped that the situation would have been rapidly overcome," it said.

For months Kommudi's family has only eaten corn powder boiled with water twice a day.
